3/3 Makes a Whole
Posted by Blake Bradley on 24th Jul 2015
We have often been taught the math rule that 3/3 = 1 (a whole). In fact, the formal definition of a whole is:
(1): free of wound or injury :unhurt(2): recovered from a wound or injury :restored(3): being healed b: free of defect or impairment :intactc: physically sound and healthy : free of disease or deformity d: mentally or emotionally sound: having all its proper parts or components :complete, unmodified
:constituting the total sum or undiminished entirety :entire
A whole part is actually much more than a number sequence or a math problem. I remember a lesson that I learned when I was around 12 years old. I listened as a man told a young boy who was experiencing problems at home, these important words. He said.. "Son, you are 1/3 your mother, 1/3 your father and God gave you the final 1/3 as independent and original! You can use this 1/3, and even if you have nothing else, with God at your side, you can move mountains!". This blew me away! I had never thought of it this way before. God has given us the ability to choose whatever path we want in life, even if all we had was our 1/3 to draw from! Not all kids have the same opportunity to study and learn from a mother and father. I know that I have taken this for granted for many years. I was one of the kids who was blessed to have both a mother and father in my house who loved me. I learned that this is not always the case for many kids. I do know that under any circumstances, God can and will deliver and guide us through any situation. Through the years, I have met many different types of people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Some of them have experienced problems transitioning into adulthood and they seemed to have a very happy and stable upbringing with both parents present. I have also known a few people who were orphans as children and they are some of the most sound minded and God loving people I have ever met. In my opinion they used their 1/3! God will fill our voids if we let Him.
Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22
The formal definition of "whole" caught my eye as well, (3) Restored: being healed!
Our Lord can make us whole if we give our cares to Him!
Matthew 17:20 tells us:
20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
We could all look at an incident in life and make an excuse as to why things have turned out the way they have but God has a plan for all of us. No matter what the background or traumatic situation, He is still there always. Whether we had the pleasure of 3/3 or just our 1/3, He is there and loves us all the same! We must put our faith in Him and remember that God's timing and the timing we would like is not always the same. I am so guilty of asking God for help and then immediately pulling it back away from Him again because I think I can somehow fix it on my own. I usually remember my mistake about the same time that I fall on my face in failure. LOL The Lord says to:
"Be Still and know that I am God". Psalm 46:10 We can't move around it or rush Him, He says "BE STILL"
