How to Get What You Want From Someone

There are a couple ways to do this. You can just take it or you can manipulate it out of them. The problem is that what you think you want isn’t what you need. If you get what you need, you’re never going to want anymore. Getting what you want from people doesn’t fill you, it only empties you. We see this all the time: people who have anything and everything anyone could ever want. And they feel empty. Here’s why. What I want is what’s missing from me, so what am I going to do? I am going to try to take it from you or try to manipulate you so you will give me what I want. And that just means that I am going to love you and be kind to you—not for you, but for me--so you will give me what I want.In either case, I am not being kind, patient, truthful, not protecting you, or any of the things love is. I am not living a loving life that way. And the crazy part is that what I got from you—your fruit--I can’t put on my tree. That’s why getting from you what I want from you doesn’t fill me.What you need isn’t in people, it’s in God. So, loving people will allow God to flow through you and give you what you need, and when you get what you need, you will no longer be empty or want anything more. Trust God’s Word, no matter what. Keep your eyes on the horizon.
