If We Sin, is Salvation Possible?

Answer: Yes

In your dying moments, if you believe that your sin can cost you your salvation, I would ask you two question; "Does anyone love Jesus perfectly? Does anyone love Him as much as they ought to? If the answer to the first question is no, then the answer to the second question has to be no, because we’re supposed to love Him perfectly, but we don’t, and we all sin. If we all are sinners, and we do not love Jesus perfectly, then how can anyone's salvation be certain?

The good news is that God knew this was the case long before we man existed. That is why he sent his Son in the flesh as a man to die a horrible death so that we can have the assurance that our salvation is eternal.

My uncle, Richard Vaughan, a master Bible teacher used to explain it to me something like this. Gabe, we are a soul that has a mind and lives in a temporary body. Our mind is our personality but it is our soul that is regenerated when we accept Christ.

Imagine that your soul is a round sphere. Before we accept Christ our soul is defiled and corrupt with sin. When you truly accept Christ as your Lord and Savior your soul is sealed because the spirit of God now lives in you (Romans 8:11, 1 Corinthians 3:16).

Though we will continue to sin our soul is sealed because the spirit of God dwells there. If hope of eternal salvation is based on our ability to immediately repent for every sin we commit there is not much hope for us.

Please don't misunderstand me, grace from God is not a free pass to sin against Him. Remember, God knows your heart. None of us are perfect. The good news is this, if you are acting on the seven things that love is (Patience, Kindness, Truthfulness, Protection, Trust, Hope, and Perseverance) then you are doing the will of God.

If you are acting on any of the eight things love is not (Envy, Boastfulness, Pride, Dishonoring Others, Self-seeking, Easily Angered, Un-forgiveness, Delights in evil) then you are outside of the will of God.

Thank God for His perfect wisdom, forgiveness, and grace. He loved you and me enough to offer His one and only Son to be a sacrifice for every sin we have committed and every sin we will commit. We cannot earn our way into Heaven. There is only one way to salvation - it is through faith in Jesus Christ and acceptance of Him as Lord and Savior.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

I don't claim to have all the answers. If you disagree with me, you don't ever have to worry about me being upset with you. I do not claim to be a teacher; however, I do take James 3:1 seriously. What I write is based on my research, experiences, and my limited knowledge. One thing I can tell you with 100% accuracy is that there are things I get wrong, often. I would love to know your thoughts and learn from you. Am I wrong?
