Is God's Love Unconditional?

I guess it depends on what you mean by the word “unconditional.” But I think it is safe to say that God’s love is not subject to me. So, if God only loved me if I did or didn’t do certain things, that would mean that His love was subject to what I did or didn’t do. We all know that’s not true. God doesn’t love you because of who you are or because of who you aren’t. God loves you because of who He is. He is love. Now His love for you does not mean He approves of everything you do and that He is going to bless anything you do. Of course not, Because He loves you, He hates sin. Because He loves you, He doesn’t want you in sin. Because He loves you, He disciplines. So, our problem is never a lack of God’s love for us. Our problem is always our lack of love for Him. It’s not when God loved you that you changed and you were saved. He always loved you. It’s when you loved Him that all that happened. Ephesians 2:8 For, by grace you are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Trust God’s Word no matter what. Keep your eyes on the horizon.
