The Power of Words

Words Can Destroy
The words you say and how you say them predict the quality of your life with no exceptions. God wants to use your tongue to create a great life and great relationships and to bless other people. But the devil wants to use your tongue to destroy your life, damage your family, and hurt other people. I know this because I have destroyed relationships with my words in the past. We live in a world that is vulgar, sarcastic, and verbally hateful. If you speak that same way you will destroy. When you replace bad, hurtful words with life-giving words you will see a huge difference in your life.
Words Endure
Nothing sticks around like words, especially hurtful words. All of us can remember words spoken in a short moment that have stuck in our minds for years and years. I remember overhearing my 3rd grade teacher tell my Mom "he is not college material." 36 years later I can still hear her speaking those words. Thank God I had a Mother that immediately rebuked those words and replaced them with words of encouragement.
Words Are Not Neutral
Words are consequential and none of them are neutral. Good words bring good results. Bad words bring bad results. The sad thing is most of the time it is such a pattern that we don't even realize it. There is not one of us that would not change the way we speak if we knew all of our words were being recorded for play back. Well, bad news! Matthew 12:36 says, "I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, Jesus said "For the mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart."
Conclusion
The nature of our words reveals the nature of our hearts. A heart filled with hate and un-forgiveness brings hateful words. A mean heart produces mean words. But here is the beautiful part! A heart filled with love brings forth loving words, and a pure heart produces pure words. All you have to do is act on love and immediately things start to change. If you don't know how to act on love just ask! Many don't know what that means to no fault of their own. But when you understand it the way God intended you will find that it brings abundance and the greatest thing, it changes those around you as well.
"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." Proverbs 18:21
