What matters most to you

Luke 9:48, Then he said to them, "Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest." I will never forget being escorted through The Pentagon by active duty Colonel David Dodd who had just returned from war. He escorted me into the offices of the Secretary of Defense and the office of Four Star General William Boykin (the head of a special task force in the war on terror). Colonel Dodd could not have been more respectful of each of these authorities; but, then we crossed paths with a lady pushing a cleaning station down the wide halls of the Pentagon, and it was like the whole world stopped as Colonel Dodd stopped to hug this lady and ask her about her struggling family member. My head was spinning as I realized he knew her by name and her family members by name. It was as if she was the most important person in the building. I was witnessing the love of Jesus in a warrior and it rocked my world. That was some 15 years ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Lord help me to make sure what matters most to me is what matters most to You.
