How to Start Something New
Posted by Kenny Vaughan on 30th Oct 2024
First of all you have to be ok with looking like you don’t know what you are doing, because you don’t. If you fake it until you make it, or you act like you know things you really don’t know, then the people, who actually know, aren’t going to be willing to help you. But if you are humble enough to say, I don’t really know, but I’m willing to try, then the people, who actually know, will be more than willing to help you. They would love to give you some advice. Then, you need to lower your expectations. You are trying something new. You don’t have to learn it the first time. But, if you are going to start it, I hope you will continue until you at least accomplish it. It doesn’t mean you have to do it forever. For example, when I try to teach people to ski, I tell them: if you are going to try to learn to ski, I want you to learn how to ski. You don’t have to ski forever. If you don’t like skiing, you don’t have to keep skiing. I just don’t want you to fail at learning, I know you can learn to ski, if you just won’t quit. We don’t have to learn today, we can learn tomorrow; we can learn the next day, but let’s keep trying until you succeed, so the next time you try something new, you’ll know you can get it done. I hope that makes sense. Trust God’s Word no matter what, because His word is truth. Keep your eyes on the horizon.
