Should We Demand Our Children Respect Us?

I think the answer is yes, we should demand that our children respect us.

I think the more important question is: Why should we demand that our children respect us?

Even the Bible says children should honor their mother and their father. But why does it say that? It doesn’t say that so that the mother and the father get honored and respected. The Bible says it that so the children’s lives will be blessed. 

If we punish our children for not respecting us and we don’t clearly communicate to them that it’s not so that we will be honored and respected, but so that their lives be blessed--if we are not careful, we will teach them to live a selfish life and to punish other people for not respecting them like we punish them for not respecting us.

We should teach them to honor and respect others including their parents so love will rule their lives.

Think about it. God’s Word no matter what, because His Word is truth.
