What is the difference between saying sorry and repentance

Saying we are sorry can mean a lot of things. The greatest evidence we are not seeking truth or truly repenting is when we look in the eyes of truth and make more excuses. True repentance is wrecked by the fact the truth means it’s the problem. So wrecked, it changes directions and will do most anything to make sure it never stands for a lie again. It no longer fights for itself, but fights for the truth despite itself. It will no longer be the plaintiff or the defendant in its own life. It will only sit on the jury of it’s own life and follow the truth where it takes it. John 8:32,”And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
