What to do When the People You Love Run Over You

I received a great direct message from someone recently. The message read: “I get it. Love does what is best For others without regard for ourselves. But what do we do when the people you love consistently run over us or take advantage of us?”

The best example I can give you for that is my love for my children. The first thing I want them to know is that I love them with all my heart. The second thing I want them to know is that I want them to live a loving life. Because if love doesn’t rule their lives, destruction will be their destiny.

The reason I don’t allow them to disrespect me or run over me is not because I have boundaries where I say, if you cross these boundaries daddy won’t tolerate it because you are hurting me. That would be loving myself.

That’s the last thing I want. I love them too much to allow them to take advantage of me or other people and destroy their own lives.

So, if we love someone, we won’t allow them to run over us, for their sake, not our own.

Think about it. Trust God’s Word no matter what, because His Word is truth.
